Admissions & Tuition

Idlewild is now welcoming inquiries for the 2027–2028 school year.

Our Programs

We offer two full-time programs within a small, nature-based learning community:

Upper Elementary | Grades 4–5 | $10,800 per year
A strong academic foundation paired with curiosity, creativity, responsibility, and meaningful time outdoors.

Middle School | Grades 6–8 | $13,500 per year
Rigorous academics, deeper inquiry, growing independence, practical skills, and opportunities for leadership and student-directed work.

Enrollment is intentionally limited to about 15 students per program so that each student can be known, challenged, and taken seriously.

Deposit & Payment Options

Our school year runs September 7, 2027–May 25, 2028. After accepting a written enrollment offer, pay a tuition deposit within 14 calendar days: $1,200 for Grades 4–5 or $1,500 for Grades 6–8, unless Idlewild approves another written arrangement. The deposit is part of annual tuition and credited to September, not an additional enrollment fee.

Monthly: After the deposit, pay eight installments on the first of each month, October 2027–May 2028: $1,200 for Grades 4–5 or $1,500 for Grades 6–8. Idlewild charges no financing fee for choosing monthly payments.

Annual: After the deposit, the remaining balance is $9,600 for Grades 4–5 or $12,000 for Grades 6–8, due August 15, 2027. For offers accepted after August 15, the remaining balance due date is stated in writing. Paying annual tuition in full includes the deposit. Credited tuition payments and approved UFA funds reduce the remaining balance.

What Tuition Includes

Tuition includes academic instruction, curriculum, standard books and materials, assessments, nature-based programming, regular school-day activities, and local field experiences. Idlewild charges no separate required application, enrollment, curriculum, materials, technology, or activity fees. Families provide ordinary personal items such as lunch, appropriate clothing, a backpack, and transportation. Optional activities outside the standard program are disclosed in advance and require separate consent.

Payment Fees & Optional Tips

ACH bank payments through Omella have no Omella payer processing fee. Families cover card-processing fees shown at checkout (currently 3.99% plus $0.30 per transaction). Idlewild absorbs the separate 1% automatic-installment fee, so base tuition does not increase.

Any tip is optional, goes to Omella—not Idlewild—and may be set to $0. Original processing fees or tips not returned by Omella or the processor remain the payer’s responsibility, subject to applicable law; they are not deducted from tuition refunds Idlewild owes.

Withdrawal & Refunds

All tuition paid, including the deposit, is refundable before the first scheduled school day. After school begins, tuition is earned by enrolled month; tuition for future, unstarted months is canceled or refunded under our policies.

How Admissions Works

Choosing a school is a significant decision for both a family and the school community. Idlewild’s admissions process is designed to help us get to know one another, discuss your student’s needs, and determine whether the program is a responsible mutual fit.

1. Start a Conversation
Complete our brief admissions-interest form and tell us about your student, your current educational setting, and what you hope to find in a school.
This is not a formal application or a commitment to enroll.

2. Parent Conversation
We will contact you within two business days to arrange an introductory conversation. We will discuss your student, answer questions, explain the program, and talk candidly about tuition, Utah Fits All funding, and Idlewild’s current capabilities.

3. Student Meeting and Visit
Families who wish to continue will be invited to a student conversation and, when available, a visit to the Idlewild property. This is not an academic audition. It is an opportunity for the student and school to become comfortable with one another and explore whether the community feels like a good fit.

4. Offer and Enrollment
If the family and Idlewild agree that the program is a strong fit, Idlewild may extend a written offer of enrollment. The family will then receive enrollment materials, required forms, tuition options, policies, and payment instructions.
Enrollment is complete after Idlewild has issued a written offer, the family has accepted it and signed the enrollment agreement, required forms are complete, and the deposit is paid or Idlewild has approved another written payment arrangement. Payment alone does not guarantee admission.
